OK. Back to Clive Westwood.
I changed the hat (more irregular), and I changed the skin.
This is a radiosity (HQ) render. Note the two bright spots below the eyes, 
only appearing with radiosity on. No holes in the hat. After some testing, I 
conclude that they are caused by changes in the mesh following changes in 
facial expression (here: slight squint of the eyes). They do not appear in 
the basic mesh as you were able to see in the skin tests above.
